On April 19, 2015, a great charity campaign for persecuted Christians from Syria and Iraq took place in three Roman Catholic parishes in Busko-Zdrój.
The collection of cash and material gifts lasted from the first morning Masses to the evening. The initiative also aimed to increase Catholics' awareness of the situation of Christians in Syria and Iraq, who, as a result of wars and persecution for faith, are staying in refugee camps in Kurdistan.
The campaign involved: Catholic Action at the parish Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which was supported by the scouts of Busko ZHP, the Pegaz Theater Group from the Upper Secondary School Complex No. 1 in Busko - Zdrój, representatives of the Extraordinary Holy Communion Ministers and the Buski Team "Caritas". In turn, Mr. Mieczysław Sas, organized the transport of collected gifts to Rzeszów.
According to the plan, in each parish, at least at one Mass, the sermon was given by Fr. Tomasz Jegierski, president of the "SOS for life" foundation, on the situation of Christians from Syria and Iraq as an eyewitness.
The result of the campaign - as we learned from the President of the Catholic Action, Adrian Szczerba, who piloted all the activities - turned out to be PLN 14,300. Thanks to the generosity and openness of the hearts of the inhabitants of Busko - Zdrój, a considerable number of gifts were collected, such as: clothes, chemistry, hygiene products, dishes, tents, school supplies, food with a long shelf life. The gifts were donated to the "SOS dla życia" foundation. The cash will be used to finance the transport of gifts and the purchase of a mobile field kitchen.
The SOS Foundation for Life would like to thank everyone who was involved in collecting gifts.
